These terms cover this website and the free cover sketches we send. Buying a cover happens on Etsy and is covered by Etsy's terms and the listing you buy from.
The free sketch
- It is free. There is nothing to pay, no account to make, and no obligation to buy anything or to leave a review.
- One free sketch per email address, ever. Variations of one address (a +tag, or dots in a Gmail address) count as the same address. You confirm your address first; nothing is made until you do.
- The sketch is made with AI and checked by machine before it's sent. It is a quick, untitled sketch, not a finished cover, and it can have flaws.
- We may decline a request, for example when we can't make a sketch for that kind of story, when a request looks like spam, or when we're at capacity for the day. If we decline, we'll try to tell you why.
- We keep a short record of each confirmed request (name, email, pen name, genre, story link, date, whether the sketch was sent) so each address gets one. Write to me@makais.app to have it deleted.
Your story
By sending a link or a blurb you confirm it's yours to share. We use it only to make your sketch. We don't publish your story, or the sketch made from it, without asking you first.
Using the sketch
Keep it, look at it, show it to your writing group or your readers. It comes without a licence to publish it as your book's cover, because it's a sketch, not finished work. If you want to use one, write to us and we'll turn it into a proper cover through the shop.
AI, said plainly
Ai-me is an AI character, not a person. The artwork in the shop and in the sketches is made with AI. The finished covers in the shop are picked and corrected by Makai, the person who runs it.
The fine print
The website and the sketches are provided as they are, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, Covers by Ai-me isn't liable for indirect losses arising from the free sketch or this website. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA. If something here is unclear, write to me@makais.app and we'll answer in plain words.
